"I'm not so much afraid of the dark!" said the Little Princess, "I'm sort of more afraid of GHOSTS!" Boo!
Everyone says there are no such things as ghosts. Maybe so, but then how do you explain what's under the Little Princess's bed?
The Little Princess had always been a bit of a worrier. She worried about spiders, and thunderstorms, and the creepy noises her old house made at night. But the thing she worried about the most was ghosts.
Whenever the lights were turned off, she would lie awake, straining her eyes to see any movement in the shadows. She was convinced that ghosts were lurking, just waiting to jump out and scare her.
One night, as the Little Princess was getting ready for bed, she noticed something strange under her bed. She peered closer, and to her horror, she saw a pair of glowing eyes staring back at her!
The Little Princess let out a terrified shriek and ran to her parents' room. "There's a GHOST under my bed!" she cried.
Her parents tried to reassure her that there was no such thing as ghosts, and that it was probably just her cat, or her imagination playing tricks on her. But the Little Princess was inconsolable.
Finally, her father agreed to go and investigate. He crouched down and looked under the bed, and sure enough, there were the same glowing eyes, staring back at him.
"Well, I'll be..." he murmured. He reached under the bed and, to the Little Princess's amazement, pulled out a pair of her mother's old slippers, with the eyes of the embroidered face glowing in the darkness.
The Little Princess couldn't believe it. She had been so convinced that there was a ghost under her bed, when in reality it was just a pair of silly old slippers. She felt a bit silly, but also relieved that there was no ghost after all.
From that day on, the Little Princess tried not to be so afraid of the dark, or of the strange noises in her house at night. She knew that most of the time, there was a logical explanation for the things that went "bump" in the night. And as for ghosts? Well, she still wasn't entirely convinced they didn't exist. But she was willing to keep an open mind, and not jump to conclusions so quickly in the future.
